Cold Forged Heat Sink

What is a Forged Heatsink?

A forged heatsink is an advanced solution for enhancing thermal management, offering an efficient alternative to traditional casting methods. Cold forging is particularly effective in producing complex shapes with excellent thermal conductivity. This process allows for nearly perfectly straight fins, which enables more fins per square millimeter, thus improving heat dissipation. Common cold forged heatsink shapes include plate fin, round pin, and elliptical fin designs. Cold forging is especially well-suited for copper heatsinks, as it requires lower temperatures for shaping and minimizes damage. Additionally, secondary machining operations like drilling holes, adding chamfers, and creating steps can be integrated into the cold forging process, reducing waste and enhancing manufacturing efficiency.
